Kolby Baber, a NE Department of Corrections Officer, died from COVID (EOW 8-172021). His name was put on the wall in DC this year and his wife Kelani Baber and daughter Kenly attended.

These pictures are of Kelani Baber and her daughter Kenly Baber at this year's National COPS kids camp. Kenly got 3rd place out of 8 kids for air rifle competition! We are so grateful for all the support and opportunities provided to survivors through COPS.

Nebraska Concerns of Police Survivors

The mission of Nebraska C.O.P.S reflects the strong belief that assistance, guidance, understanding, compassion, empathy, and hope for the future for the survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty begins with a caring, prepared agency. While no person and no agency can be fully prepared for the trauma a law enforcement death inflicts, there are many things an agency can do to prepare for this possibility that will lessen the chaos that follows an officer death. Therefore, COPS offers various programs and services for law enforcement survivors, as well as training, reference materials, and guidance for agencies. COPS also believes that a law enforcement death affects not only the surviving family and the agency, but the entire community.

Our Mission

Rebuilding shattered lives of survivors and co-workers affected by line of duty deaths, through partnerships with law enforcement and the community.

It is not how these officers died that made them heroes, it is how they lived.
